Singapore Sling formed in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2000 around the eight-tracked material of Sling chief Henrik Bjornsson.
Together with guitarists Helgi Petursson and Einar Kristjansson, maraca player Siggi Shaker, bassist Toggi Guðmundsson, and drummer Bjarni Johannsson, Bjornsson fleshed out his glowering, gritty songs, which drew inspiration from the Velvet Underground and the shadowy post-punk of Suicide, as well as latter-day groups like the Jesus & Mary Chain and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. While recordings were still scarce, an appearance at the 2001 Iceland Airwaves Festival was well-received, and the band returned the following year to even more acclaim. In late 2002, Singapore Sling signed with the American indie Stinky. A gig at South by Southwest followed, and June 2003 saw the release of the Sling's debut full-length, Curse of. Singapore Sling then embarked on an American tour in support of the LP. ~ Johnny Loftus

"Piatcions unleash a hurricane of noise and reverb, droning with sparse and trance-like vocals cascading in and out o'er the din - it's like a psychedelic tsunami! The band's repetitive riffing and stratosphere-reaching guitar heroics are cold and pummeling, reminding us of the best and more avant-leaning from the British shoegaze scene of the late-Eighties - think Loop and early Godflesh more than Spacemen 3 or Jesus and Mary Chain. Piatcions originate from Domodossola in the north of Italy. Having put out their debut LP Senseless Sense at the back end of 2011, their reputation has grown as one of the tightest live bands on the psychedelic circuit, culminating in a show stopping performance at September's International Festival of Psychedelia in Liverpool. Their new EP Heaven's Sins was released in February 2013 on Fuzz Club Records, with official EP launch on February 15th in London at the Shacklewell Arms (Bad Vibrations), with full Uk and Europe Tour following.
Piatcions live performances are now legendary: a non-stop hurricane of passionate noise and sharp vocal tunes; a physical assault of trance-inducing reverbs.
During the latest 12 months Piatcions have played 3 Uk tours and 2 European tours, last one as a 3 weeks trip in October with Underground Railroad (One Little Indian).
Piatcions have also been featured on the Dead Bees Records Sampler presented at Primavera Sound Festival 2012.
Late 2013 they will be appearing in the line up of Incubate Festival (Tilburg, September), and Spacefest (Gdansk, December).
